Water mixed with air becomes vapor, which forms clouds. Water and air are two of the three primary elements; the third is land. In human composition, water corresponds to the mind, while air represents the spirit. As colors, blue symbolizes water, and yellow represents air. The mixture of blue and yellow creates green, symbolizing clouds.

Unlike the primary colors of pigment (red, yellow, and blue), green is one of the primary colors of light (red, green, and blue). Light is the source of illumination; without it, there can be no perception—only darkness. Thus, what is coming with the clouds is the light entering the mind: new consciousness via perception.
